I saw this color combination on Pinterest and really liked it so I decided to make a card using it. The colors are Smoky Slate and Pistachio Pudding. I really like how well they go together and they make a “soft” card. I am not really sure what that exactly means, but it is a good word to use for this card.
I made this card for a wedding but realized it could also be used for an anniversary or Valentine’s Day card. The new Occasions Catalog that starts on January 3rd is full of gold things. There is gold Washi Tape, Ink, Velum, and Foil Sheets. I love all the gold in this catalog.
Now that Christmas is over, I need to start writing my thank you notes to my friends and family for the wonderful presents and thoughts they sent me during this holiday season. I started making a bunch of wintery thank you notes but got tired of them and felt like making something light and springy. What better colors to use than Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana and Soft Sky! It was a very simple card to make. I just stamped the hexagons from the Six Sided Sampler set (say that 3 times fast!), punched them out using the Hexagon Punch (buy both and save 15% in a Bundle) and attached them to Whisper White card stock. It gave the card a “light” look.
One of the things I really like about the Winter Frost Designer Series Paper that is in the Holiday Catalog, is that it can be used for Christmas but it can also be used afterwards. I made a card similar to this one years ago and actually found it the other day. The stamp set I used for it was retired (and so was the paper) but I thought the layout was still nice. The flowers are from Serene Silhouettes and the greeting is a new one that will be in the Occasions Catalog that comes out January 3rd. It is called Perfect Pennants and has a ton of great greetings.
By the way, the Holiday Catalog ends in less than a week so don’t forget to place your order before it all goes away.
I apologize that this weekly deal post is so late. As some of you know, my area had an ice storm last weekend that was devastating to this area. We lost power, cable and internet sometime Saturday night and did not get it back until Christmas Day. Fortunately, I had already planned some posts during this time but was not able to do any extra posts. In any case, all is back in order and these are this week’s Weekly Deals.
This is my Christmas card that I sent out this year. Before I go any further, I need to apologize. Apparently I used a retired stamp set in this card by accident. I thought it was still on the carry over list but only the punches are still available. The retired set is called Merry Minis (I used it to make the stars). It is still a cute stamp set, even though it is retired.
I stamped the wreath from the stamp set called Daydream Medallions (it is still current!). The Peace stamp is from a set that is on the carry over list called Greetings of the Season. The embossing folder I used is from the Holiday Catalog and is called Stylish Stripes. Remember, the last day to order from the Holiday Catalog is January 2nd.
