Black & Gold Wedding

DSC01927

Gold is all the rage right now and Stampin Up! has these awesome Gold Foil Sheets and Gold Baker’s Twine in the 2014 Occasions Catalog.  It is perfect to use on a card for a black and white wedding (although I do have to admit, I used Very Vanilla instead of Whisper White).  The Gold Baker’s Twine is more Very Vanilla but I don’t think anyone would mind.  I used the Chevron Border Punch twice.  I punched it in Basic Black first and then in the Gold Foil Sheets and then just used the pieces from the Gold Sheets.  The stamp set is from Happy Day.  The little stars are from a set called Mini Merrys Punch Pack.  This set of three punches is not in a present catalog but is a carryover from the Holiday Catalog.  You can see what else is carried over when you click on the link on the right side of my blog.

My Digital Studio Sale-A-Bration Card

MDS Postcard-001

One of the products you can get for FREE with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-bration is a My Digital Studio Download called Hooray For Parties.  Actually there are two My Digital Studio downloads available.  The other one is called One Big Sale-A-Bration 2014 which includes all the items you can get in the Sale-a-bration catalog.

I made this card using the Hooray For Parties Digital Ensemble.  All I had to do was use one of their invitation templates and change it up a bit to turn it into a card.  It was very easy to do and only took a couple of minutes.  This download includes designer templates for invitations, thank yous, garland, mini folder, treat folder and treat box.  It has includes 16 stamps, 15 Designer Series Papers, 13 embellishments and 2 punches!  The colors in this ensemble are Going Gray, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Summer Starfruit.  It is a great way to make a quick card that can be printed through Stampin Up! or on  your own printer!

Mosaic Secret Garden

DSC01931

I am starting to really like Very Vanilla and Coastal Cabana together!  Can you tell?  They just look so pretty together, although it is hard to tell from a photograph.  Try putting them together yourself.  You will love the softness these two colors create.

I embossed the background with the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder leaving the bottom half un-embossed in order to put the sentiment there.  I used the stamp set called Secret Garden.  That set has matching Framelits also called Secret Garden.  It makes it so much easier when you don’t have to actually cut something out with scissors.  Framelits are the best invention!

Hexagon Hive

DSC01923

I just love the 2013/2015 In Colors.  I love all of them but my two favorites are Coastal Cabana and Crisp Cantaloupe.  You thrown in Calypso Coral and you have a  beautiful color combination.  The Designer Series Paper called Sweet Sorbet that is in the Sale-a-bration Catalog goes well with these colors.  You can get this Designer Series Paper for FREE with a $50 order!  As a matter of fact you can only get this paper by making a $50 order.  It is not for sale.

I layered a piece of Calypso Coral over the Designer Series Paper after I cut it out with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit.  The trick with this Thinlit is to use a piece of waxed paper between the Thinlit and your cardstock.  It makes it so much easier to get the cardstock out.  The sentiment is from the stamp set called Yippee Skippee.

Another Fun Fold Card

Here is another Fun Fold card I made.  This time I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits to make the “windows”.  It was a little hard to line up until I had a brainstorm and decided to use Post-It Notes to help.  I don’t know what we did without those Post-it Notes but they sure make life easier when it comes to cardmaking!  The “Thinking of You” stamp is from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.  I made the flowers using the Floral Fusion Sizzlits and the leaves were made using the Little Leave Sizzlits.  Of course, the strips going across the card is Epic Day This and That Washi Tape.  I love that stuff!

Startburst Birthday

DSC01917

Here is a very simple, clean card I made using the Starburst Sayings stamp set that is in the Occasion Catalog.  I used Whisper White on top of Whisper White carstock.  If you look closely you can see where I scored the card with my Simply Scored Scoring Tool a couple of times above the starbursts and below the starburst.  I think it adds nice dimension to the card.  The happy birthday sentiment is from a Hostess Set called Express Yourself.  You can only get this set by hostessing a workshop or placing a $150 order.  It is a great set to own because it has 12 different stamps in a beautiful font.

Embossed Peaceful Petals

DSC01915

At the Leadership Conference in Houston last January, Stampin Up! announced they were going to start carrying their own brand of alcohol markers called Blendabilities.  Alcohol markers are great for coloring on cardstock because you can blend them to make them look terrific.  I am hoping these markers will come out soon!

This stamp set, called Peaceful Petals, is going to be a perfect set to color with Blendabilities.  This set is also great for embossing with because all the stamps are outline stamps.  I embossed this card using White Embossing Powder and then placed the medium pearls from our Basic Jewels in the middle of each flower.  The sentiment is from Apothecary Art.
