Watercooler Challenge WCC20

Today is another day for the Watercooler Card Challenge.  This time Buffy made an awesome card sketch for all of us to follow.  Here it is:

Here is my card:

Project Life

I decided to use Project Life to make my card.  Even though I am not a scrapbooker, I love using Project Life to make cards.  The Everyday Adventure Project Life Card Collections uses a lot of my favorite colors such as Strawberry Slush, Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry (among others).  I made this card entirely from Project Life and there is no stamping on it at all.

If you would like to see the other cards made with this challenge click HERE.  There are some awesome cards on there!

Amazing News

As most of you know, my youngest son, Zachary, is in the Air Force and was deployed to Iraq six months ago.  It was a very stressful time for me.  When he left I made him promise to call or text me every day.  He kept his promise.  I heard from him everyday.

Last week he wrote us and told us that his replacement was supposed to arrive this week.  Zachary had to train him for three days and then he could start his journey home.  The problem was, when Zachary left for Iraq, he got stuck in Kuwait for three weeks.  We were worried his replacement would be stuck too.  On Thursday, he sent us a message that his replacement had arrived and Zachary was scheduled to fly out of Kuwait this Tuesday.  He said he would have to go back to his base for a few days and might be able to come home next weekend.

This weekend we were supposed to go visit our middle son, Sam, in Cleveland.  He called us a couple of days ago and told us not to come because he had to work all weekend.  We were sad but understood.  Things were just not working out!

Yesterday morning our eldest son, David, called us to ask what we were doing this weekend.  We invited him for dinner.  He arrived around 5:00 with his dogs.  A couple of minutes later, the front door opened and Sam walked in.  We were so surprised and not quite sure what was going on.  A minute later, the front door opened again and Zachary walked in.  We were in shock.  Apparently he got back to the US last Tuesday!!  He had been messaging us this past week from New Jersey!

Needless to say, there were lots of tears, hugs, kisses, more hugs, maybe a few more hugs, laughter and another hug or two!

We are so thankful to have him home once again.  It was an amazing night.

I do want to thank all of you who sent him cards while he was deployed.  He loved receiving every single one of them.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

By The Seashore

By The Seashore

Although is has been a little warmer up here, there is still a lot of snow on the ground.  Thankfully the days have been in the high 30’s so the snow is melting slowly, which means no flooding.  I still miss the warmth and sunshine that we haven’t seen in such a long time.  I decided to make a card that depicts sunshine and warmth to try to cheer myself up.  It worked until I looked outside and saw all the snow.  Maybe I should just close the blinds!

I made this card using the stamp set called By The Seashore.  It has some shells, a starfish, and a sand dollar.  The shapes are all pretty easy to cut out so I can’t really call it fussy cutting.  I don’t do fussy cutting (as you all know!).

My Digital Studio Update

Sadly, Stampin’ Up! announced that they are discontinuing My Digital Studio (MDS) on May 31st.  All support, downloads, printing services and web sites (including Facebook, mydigitalstudio.net and Pinterest) will be discontinued after this date.   Stampin’ Up (and I) strongly urge you to save a backup copy of your downloads.  To do this, sign into your account and click on digital downloads.  Download everything (without installing because you have already installed these items) and save it to a file on your computer, the cloud or on a disk.

Just to clarify, you will be still able to use your My Digital Studio software and all the downloads you have paid for.  Stampin’ Up! is just not going to make any more downloads or give any technical support.

Now is a good time to look through all the downloads that are available and purchase any that you might like before May 31st.  I know that is what I am going to do!  I am still going to use the software to make my blog headings and buttons, cards and other items.  There are other print services out there that you can use to get your projects printed.  If you are currently working on something, you might want to get it done and printed by Stampin’ Up! before May 31st.

If you  have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I will help you as much as I can.

A Soft Butterfly

Butterfly Basics, Butterfly Thinlits

I saw this color scheme (Sahara Sand and Crisp Cantaloupe) in a ton of cards on Pinterest and I really liked it  It seems soft and they go so well together that I had to make a card using them.  This card features the a butterfly cut from the Butterfly Thinlits (don’t forget to use a unscented dryer sheet when cutting this out).  The Designer Series Paper in is the 2015 Occasions Catalog and is called Something Borrowed.  Honestly, I don’t know why it is called that.  I guess it could be used for a wedding but it certainly doesn’t have to be.

The sentiment is from a new Photopolymer Stamp Set that is not in any catalog.  It is called Lovely Amazing You.  There are quite a few stamp sets that aren’t included in catalogs.  There is a link at the top of my blog where you can see all the different sets.
