Woodland Embossing Colors

Woodland

This is the first card we made at our monthly Stampin’ club meeting.  It uses a new technique that I have seen all over Pinterest.  I don’t know who came up with it first but it is a brilliant idea!  First I used a brayer to add color onto the background of an embossing folder.  I used Smoky Slate for this card.  Then I stamped other images on top of the brayered color.  In this case I used the trees from the stamp set called Happy Scenes.  Then you run a piece of cardstock in the embossing folder through the Big Shot.  The cardinal was added after running the embossing folder through.  The sentiment on this card is from the Hostess Set in the 2015 Holiday Catalog called Antique Tags.

  1. Love this card and technique. I have not seen directions on how to achieve the trees only showing up in the background behind the trees. Can you give me a website with possibly a video tutorial on how to achieve this effect? Thanks for shoring!!!

    • Thanks, Linda. To make this card, first I brayed the embossing folder with Smoky Slate imk. You have to look carefully at the embossing folder and make sure you brayer the side where the background behind the trees is raised. On my embossing folder it is the side where the Stampin’ Up logo is. Then you just ink up whatever stamp you want to use (in this case I used the trees from Happy Scenes) and stamp over the brayering. Then put your piece of cardstock inside the embossing folder and run it through the Big Shot.
