No one likes to send Sympathy cards but unfortunately they are part of life. There is no better way to show someone from afar that you care and are thinking of them then sending a homemade card when you can’t be with them.
I made this card using the stamp set called Lovely As A Tree. Now, everyone knows this set. It has been a part of Stampin’ Up! the longest. Shelli Gardner, the CEO of Stampin’ Up! said it would never retire. Now, I am not so sure about that, but it is one of the most beautiful sets they offer. I stamped the tree once in the foreground and then again in the background without re-inking it. It makes the trees come out lighter which gives the illusion that they are farther away. I did this three times. Then I took a piece of Post-It-Note paper and cut a circle out of it, put it on the card and sponged around it. That technique is called Masking. After removing the Post-It-Note I inked up the “moon” with a little So Saffron Ink and stamped the sentiment.
Today is the last day to take advantage of the great sales Stampin’ Up! is having. Hurry before it is too late to order the products you have always wanted at great prices! Click HERE to see what is on sale!
I completely forgot to post the third card we made at our monthly stamp club meeting in November. It uses the new stamp set called Acorny Thank You that is in the 2015 Holiday Catalog. It is such a cute set and it has a matching punch called Acorn Builder Punch. You can save 15% by buying both in a bundle. The Bitty Banner Framelits also match this set.
I know the background behind the acorn looks like a stamp but it isn’t. I used the Designer Series Paper called Into the Woods. I just cut out one of the bunches of flowers on one of the sheets as the background using the 2″ Circle Punch.
Today is Wednesday which means it is another Watercooler Wednesday Challenge! This time the challenge was given to us by Buffy. It is a “Anything Goes” challenge. The only rule is you have to have a wedding theme. You can make a card or a 3D project. Anything you want as long as it has a wedding theme.
I decided to make a card using the stamp set called Thoughts & Prayers. This set has been around for a long time. It really is a beautiful set to use for a sympathy card but it also has other uses. I used the branch stamp to make a wreath. I stamped it in Versamark and then embossing it using White Embossing Powder. The ‘congratulations” is from the stamp set called Bravo and I cut it out using the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits.

Here is another card using the stamp set called Winter Wishes. Nothing says old fashioned Christmas like a sled. When I was a kid, we lived near a golf course that had an amazing hill to sled down. My Dad would load us all in the car, along with a giant toboggan and we would spend the day sliding. My two sisters and I would all fit on the toboggan but none of us would ever make it to the bottom of the hill. There were always a little girl or two thrown off when we would hit a bump. Sometimes the toboggan would end up at the bottom of the hill without any of us. When we got bigger, we each had out own sled or saucer to go down and my friends and I would spend hours there. Saucers were always the most fun because you usually ended up going down the hill backwards. People always had to get out of the way or they would get run over. It is a fun memory!
I think Waffles is trying to climb into Madelyn’s bath!

Yes, it is November. Yes, my garden is all shriveled and dead but sometimes you just have to close your eyes and pretend it is summer again. This stamp set, Gift From The Garden, can help you with that. It is such a cute set so I can’t let it sit on my shelf for long! Just go with it!
I also know that Election Day has come and gone but here is a picture showing that even Madelyn voted this year. Hopefully she voted for her grandma. Well, I am sure she would have if she lived in New York!
