A Fun New Challenge

As most of you know, I used to be an artist for the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  Then life got in the way and I found I didn’t really have the time to continue a weekly challenge.  There were actually three of us that decided to leave the WWC around the same time.  I am so happy to tell you that the three of us decided to start our own challenge group.  It is not going to be weekly or on a set day.  It is going to happen whenever all three of us are available to do it.  So, I am happy to announce that Buffy, Jackie and I are starting the Stamp Off Challenge Group.  Here is our new banner.  Jackie designed it.  She is so talented!

Jackie gave us the first sketch challenge to use.  Jackie is also super good at coming up with awesome sketch challenges!

Hello, Kinda Eclectic, Sale-a-bration

I made a simple card using a stamp set from the 2016 Sale-a-bration Catalog called (amazingly enough) Hello.  You can get this stamp set for free during Sale-a-bration when you place a $50 order!  I must admit, that the little half circle had me a little stumped.  I thought a doily might look nice there but somehow I felt that a doily doesn’t really go well with the kind of cards I make.  I tried a plain circle but that was kind of boring.  Then I had the idea to use the sun stamp from the stamp set in the Annual Catalog called Kinda Eclectic because one of the stamps in the Hello set says “little sunshine”.  Tada!  I like it much better.

I hope you enjoyed our first Stamp Off Challenge.  Now, go check out Buffy’s blog HERE and Jackie’s Blog HERE.

Number Of Years

Number Of Years, Happy Birthday Everyone

I love it when Stampin’ Up! has a stamp set that can be used in a lot of different ways.  One of these sets is called Number Of Years and is in the new 2016 Occasions Catalog.  This stamp set has large numbers 0-9 as well as the ordinals (nd, st, th, rd) and some cute sentiments.  It also has some two step stamping flowers.  Two step is where you use two or more stamps to make an image.  The flowers I used in this card are two step stamps.  The leaves and branches are one set and the flowers were actually 3 different stamps.

The big Happy Birthday stamp is from a hostess set called Happy Birthday Everyone. You can only buy this set with a qualifying order(s) of $150 or more.

Bloomin’ Valentine

Bloomin' Love, Stampin Up

Valentine’s Day is only a couple of weeks away so you need to get started making them soon.  Stampin’ Up! has some nice stamp sets in their 2016 Occasions Catalog that could be used for this purpose.  I used the stamp set called Bloomin’ Love to make this card.  I also used a technique that uses baby wipes.  Can you see how the stamp has a couple of different colors in it?  All you do is to put a few drops of different color ink onto a baby wipe and use it as an ink pad.  The stamp will pick up the different colors.  In this case, I used Blushing Bride and Rose Red for the colors.  It was really easy to do!  The banner is from the set of Framelits called Large Numbers.

Gold Vintage Leaves

Vintage Leaves, Endless Thanks

I was looking through some of the cards I recently (or not so recently) made and found this one that I never posted.  If you remember, I posted a lot of cards using the Vintage Leaves Stamp Set last Fall.  I think 75% of my posts used this stamp set and matching dies, called Leaflets Framelits, back then.  You were probably pretty sick of seeing them but since it has been a while, I figured I could sneak this one in without too many eye rolls.

I stamped the oak leaf in Versamark and then embossed it using Gold Embossing Powder.  Then I cut it out using the Leaflets Framelits and another one using the Gold Foil Paper.  The sentiment and banner ,which are from Endless Thanks, was also embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.

If you buy the stamp set and Framelits in a bundle you can save 15%.  Plus if you add the Versamark and the Gold Embossing Powder, you will be eligible to pick out a Free item from the Sale-a-bration Catalog!

Bloomin’ Heart

Bloomin Heart, Stampin Up

I absolutely love the new Thinlits Dies that are in the 2016 Occasions Catalog.  There are so many to choose from that everyone is sure to find one (or three) that they love.  I made this card using the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Die.  I purposely did not put a sentiment on it because I thought it really could be used for just about any occasion.  It could be a birthday card, thank you card, anniversary card, sympathy card or a Valentine’s Day card.  I could send it as it is or I can add a sentiment if I wanted to.  This shows that so many products that Stampin’ Up! offers can be used in so many different ways.  Don’t forget to order the new Big Shot Die Brush.  It pokes out all those little pieces for you!

Awesomely Artistic

Awesomely Artistic, Endless Thanks

Do you remember this stamp set?  Sometimes we get so focused on the new “mini” catalogs that we forget there is an Annual Catalog out there with some awesome products in it.  For those of you who have been with Stampin’ Up! for a while, you know what I mean by “mini” catalog.  A couple of years ago (maybe longer) Stampin’ Up! came out with these small 5.” X 8.5″ catalogs that we would call minis.  Now the catalogs are full sized 8.5″ x 11″ so technically they aren’t mini anymore but they are smaller so I still call them minis.  Sorry for the digression!

Anyway the stamp set I used for this card is called Awesomely Artistic.  It is in the Annual Catalog. When the catalog first came out it was a pretty popular stamp set.  Ii still love it so you might see it every now and then in between the new sets in the minis!

Going Global

Going Global, World Traveler, Stampin Up

Stampin’ Up! has so many great stamp sets and suites in the 2016 Occasions Catalog.  I love how they have started putting products together and taking the guess work out of matching products up.  This card uses products in the Going Places Suite.  It is on page 38 of the catalog.  If you look at the pages, you can see where they matched Designer Series Paper colors with cardstock.  Now you can buy packages of the matching cardstock so you will have everything you need to make beautiful cards that match.  For example this suite uses the colors Lost Lagoon, Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla.  I actually used Whisper White for this card, but I like the Very Vanilla better with this color combination.

The stamp set I used is called Going Global.  It comes in your choice of Wood Mount or Clear Mount.  The Embossing Folder is called World Traveler.  These two products just belong together.

Take a look at all the suites they have in the 2016 Occasions Catalog
