This was a quick and easy card to make and, as you can see, has very little stamping. It uses a new set of Thinlits called Flourish Thinlits. This set of Framelits goes with the stamp set called Flourishing Phrases (which I didn’t use) and you can save 10% by purchasing both in a Bundle. The sentiment is from another new stamp set called Thankful Thoughts.
Stampin’ Up! has really outdone themselves with this year’s new catalog. There are so many new stamp sets, Framelits and Thinlits. I love Framelits and Thinlits and I think I pretty much bought all of the new ones. If you don’t have a catalog and you live locally you can come pick one up for free. If you would like me to mail you one, you just need to pay for postage and I would be happy to send it to you.
Blooms & Wishes is a brand new stamp set that is in the 2016/2017 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. It is a Photopolymer stamp set that contains 14 different stamps. It has three sentiments, which I didn’t happen to use for this card, but they are a very nice handwritten font. I didn’t use it because they are a little small for the area I wanted a sentiment in. The stamps are also a mixture of flowers, leaves and stems.
I used the stamps to make my own “Designer Series Paper”. I stamped them in Dapper Denim (a new InColor), Pool Party and Wild Wasabi. I love that you can make your own background paper using stamps. Of course, if you are like most people you would just buy the matching Designer Series Paper called Blooms & Bliss. Honestly, I didn’t even notice that it had matching paper when I made this card! There are so many new products in the new catalog that it is hard to keep track of! So don’t do as I do. Just buy the matching Paper which would make it so much easier!
As you can tell, I love the new Swirly Bird stamp set and the matching Swirly Scribbles Thinlits that are in the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. There is just so much you can do with this set. You probably already know I like it since I changed my blog heading using it. You can save 10% by buying them in a Bundle.
This time I used the set to make sailboats. Of course, this makes Rob happy because he loves to sail. He always complains there aren’t a lot of stamp sets that have boats in them so he was happy to see this one. He actually doesn’t really care, but he pretends to like it when there is one. He is happy that I have found a hobby but isn’t really into stamping himself. Of course, he wishes it wasn’t quite so expensive but he doesn’t really mind.
The Detailed Floral Thinlits Dies are one of my favorite things in the 2016/2017 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog. I just think they are so beautiful and so easy to use. The set includes three dies. Two of the dies cut out the patterns. One is bigger and the other is smaller (as you can see in the picture). The third die cuts out the border around each other the other dies.
I didn’t put a sentiment on this card because I am not sure what I will use it for yet. It is elegant enough to be a wedding card, yet could also be used for anything. I posted the video on how to use these dies a couple of weeks ago but in case you missed it, here it is again
This week our challenge is a Sketch Challenge made by Jackie. Jackie is awesome at the sketch challenges so we let her do most of the designing of them. Here is this week’s sketch:
Here is my card:
I used a lot of new products from the Stampin’ Up! 2016/2017 Annual Catalog. The easel is from the stamp set called Painter’s Palette. They don’t have a matching set of Thinlits for this set so I had to cut out the easel by hand. I know. That is not my favorite thing but it wasn’t too hard since all the lines are straight. I think I must have flunked out cutting in Kindergarten because for some reason I have a hard time with that.
In any case, The ribbon going up the page and the flower are from the Flourish Dies set. I love this set of dies. They are just so pretty and elegant. The Designer Series Paper is called By The Shore and matches the stamp set called Seaside Shore. The sentiment is from the stamp set called Fresh Fruit. Last but not least, the enamel dots are in the color Sweet Sugarplum.
Now, let’s go over and see what Jackieand Buffy made. I am sure we will be awed by their creations. They are so creative!
I have had a little trouble lately making cards. It is called lack of mojo and for some reason it has hit me hard! I was talking to Buffy and Jackie (my favorite Stamp Off buddies) about it and Buffy suggested I try a challenge and sent me this Craft Project Central Challenge.
I had a rough time of it but managed to come up with something worth posting. Of course, this was after throwing out 2 or 3 tries!
I used a stamp set that I won at the Stampin’ Up! ONStage in Salt Lake City. It actually comes with a matching punch and I forgot to order it so I had cut out the bird cage. The Designer Series Paper is called Blooms & Bliss. It is really pretty with nice color combinations. This piece happens to use Mint Maccaron, Island Indigo and Sahara Sand. The great thing about Designer Series Paper is it has two sides. The banner I used it the other side of the flowers. The little hearts are from the Owl Builder Punch and the sentiment is punched out with the Duet Banners Punch.
Here is another great video by Stampin’ Up! showing one of the new products in the 2016/2017 Annual Catalog. This video shows you the best way to use the Sliding Star Framelits Dies. It allows you to make a slider card so easily. No longer do you have to take a punch and try to line it up perfectly to punch multiple times in a row. The Framelits will do it for you quickly and easily. The Sliding Star Framelits also have a matching stamp set to go with them. You can save 10% by purchasing both in a Bundle!
