Cool Treats

Cool Treats, Frozen Treats, Stampin Up,

This is one of the cards we made at our Monthly Stamp Club meeting.  It uses a stamp set from the 2017 Occasions Catalog called Cool Treats.  This stamp set has a set of matching Framelits called Frozen Treats and you can save 10% by purchasing them in a Bundle.  There are 36 stamps (wow!!) and 17 dies (another wow!!) in this Bundle.

The 2016/2018 In Colors are perfect for this stamp set because they remind me of fun summer colors (sherbet).  I used Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Pool Party for the different kinds of ice cream.  They are such bright summery colors.  I also used the matching Designer Series Paper called Tasty Treats for the side panels.  You can save paper if you just cut out the panels and don’t use an entire sheet to cover the front of the card.

Is it summer yet?

Weather Together

Weather Together, Umbrella Weather, Stampin Up,

The other day we had the most amazing thunder and lightening storms.  We don’t usually get them in February so it was kind of crazy.  When I woke up the air temperature was 52 degrees.  That alone is unusual.  As the morning went on, it got even warmer.  All of a sudden around noon, the skies got very, very dark.  It got so dark we had to turn the lights on.  We could hear the wind getting closer (we live in the woods so we could hear it) and then it started pouring.  I mean POURING.  It was a little scary but fun to watch.

In any case, I thought it was appropriate to post this card using the stamp set called Weather Together.  It has a set of matching Framelits called Umbrella Weather and you can save 10% by purchasing in a bundle.  It is a fun set and has some really nice sentiments.

Of course, you would not be able to use an umbrella today because you might end up a couple of miles away!

A Stamp Off Sketch Challenge

Stamp Off Logo Clean

This week our Stamp Off Challenge is a sketch challenge.  Sketch challenges are always my favorite because I find them the easiest.  I know I need to get out of my comfort zone but Jackie and Buffy make me do that all the time so it is nice to have an easier challenge for me once in a while.  Of course, sometimes I can’t get out of my comfort zone which is when I usually cheat a bit on the challenge.

This is the sketch we needed to follow:

Here is my card:

Beautiful You, Stampin Up,

(Please note that I did follow the sketch challenge!)

I decided to use the stamp set called Beautiful You.  Jackie and Buffy use it a lot but I tend to forget about this set.  I do love it but I love so many sets that it is hard to choose which one to use.  This really is a beautiful set with nice images and sentiments.  I used Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut out the image and sentiment.  This set of Framelits is great because it has circles, ovals and squares all in one set.  They aren’t in the catalog but you can still order them (look below for the order number).

Now let’s go see what Jackie and Buffy made with this challenge.  Do you think they followed the rules?  I bet they did!

Window Shopping

Window Shopping, Stampin Up,

Window Shopping is the stamp set that goes with Window Box Thinlits Dies.  If you haven’t seen this set of dies, you need to look at the video below.  It is just gorgeous on it’s own but you can also use the dies in the set to make cards too.  I used the larger inside die to make the background on this card.  It is so pretty.

One of the unusual things in this set of dies is the one that looks like half a banner.  When I first looked at it, I said to myself “what the heck”?  What it does is it that makes a 3D banner.  I used this die on the sentiment “birthday” on the card above.  It cuts the ends of the banner but also scores the cardstock for you.  All you need to do is cut a piece of cardstock 3/4″ wide and any length you wish.  Then place the die on one end and run it through your Big Shot.  Then run it through on the other end of the cardstock.  It is very easy and works really well.

Tasty Trucks

Tasty Trucks, Hexagon Dynamic Embossing Folder, Stampin Up,

Tasty Trucks is an adorable stamp set that you can earn for free during Sale-a-bration with a qualifying order.   Yes, I said free.  All you need to do is place a minimum $50 order and you can pick this great stamp set (or any other) that is in the Sale-a-braition Catalog.  The set includes 16 Photopolymer stamps.  There are 7 sentiments along with the truck and some food items that a food truck would serve.  It is perfect to use with the new Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Pencils or Stampin’ Markers.  I happen to use the markers on this card.

The background is one of my favorite Embossing Folders.  It is called Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (a mouthful!) .  It is different than a normal embossing folder.  The impressions are deeper so it makes it look almost 3D.  When using one of the Dynamic Folders, you don’t need to use the bottom plate with your Big Shot because it is so thick.

Beetles & Bugs

Stamp Off Logo Clean

This week’s Stamp Off Challenge with Buffy and Jackie is to make a card or project using some kind of animal.

As you can see you can use any kind of animal.  Other than the Wizard Of Oz cliche, you could use dogs, cats, fish, or whatever else you wish.  I decided to use the stamp set called Beetles & Bugs.  Now, this is not a set that I would normally buy but I saw that cute little ant stamp and had to buy it.  I hate ants.  I hate bugs but still.  I wanted this set.

Beetles & Bugs, Jar Of Love, Stampin Up,

This set is actually a two (or three) step stamp set.  This means that there are two of three stamps that you use to “build” a bug.  For example, the yellow and blue bug is a three step stamp but the lady bugs and the orange bugs are two steps.  It is remarkably easy to line up the stamps because they are Photopolymer, which means they are clear so you can see through them.

I thought the “Dropping In To Say Hi” stamp set worked perfectly with this card.  It is from Acorny Thanks.  The jar is from Jar Of Love.

Now, let’s go see which animal Jackie and Buffy used to make their creations.  I am sure you will love anything they used!
